The Mentalist S5 Ep2: Devil's cherry

This scene is a Masterpiece of Emotion Depiction.

You see Grief holds 5 stages 1. Denial and isolation; 2. Anger; 3. Bargaining; 4. Depression; 5. Acceptance.
this grief could express from anywhere. in some cases, it came from an incidentincident in which you did something or maybe you didn't. but the result of this kind of incident can lead you to punish yourself to a major extent. sometimes an incident becomes your guilt and your guilt becomes your grief and to compensate that guilt, you accept to feed anything punishable to yourself even its a devil's cherry.

Patrick Jane, an independent consultant for the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI)want to track down the serial killer known as Red John, who was responsible for the brutal murders of his wife, Angela Ruskin Jane, and his daughter, Charlotte Anne Jane.

if you have not seen this series you probably think that it's just a basic scene, a man is having his cup of tea and because the sad symphony is used as background music so he must be sad about something or what else can be it.

but it's not that simple.  today Patrick visited a crime scene and he accidentally took one rare kind of drug that gave him hallucinations. and those hallucinations were not just random once, those hallucinations were of his 3-year-old daughter who is now a grown-up teenage girl, his CBI colleagues admit him in the hospital, the doctor says he could die, he is lucky that the amount of drug was little. In hallucinations, her daughter smartly tries to play with him with twisted words but Patrick is smart so he realizes that he is having hallucinations. as the episode moves forward he tries to escape from the hospital in the middle of medication cause he doesn't wanna get isolated in an emergency room. Patrick joins his team on the case again but now Patrick is enjoying the hallucinations he enjoys talking to his dead daughter but here comes the heartbreaking scene. during the case investigation, Charlotte ask him

Charlotte" dad this is so dull.  why do you even work for the CBI anyway?
Patrick: you know why ... to catch the Red john
Charlotte: okay ( rolls over her eyes ) ... whatever
Patrick: what does that mean. okay.... whatever
Charlotte: dad you know your obsession with red john is a little creepy and weird.
Patrick: what... I do this for you and your mom.

Charlotte: Yeah, but I hate to be the one to break this to you dad there is nothing that you can do for us, we don't give a dam what happens to red john. we are dead, gone and you need to start dealing with that.

after some Shots and a bit of a story as the effect of drugs gets fainted, later Charlotte leaves Patrick by saying: I love you, dad,.
And before he can even respond to her someone call him from the back and he got distracted and poof.... Charlotte is gone.
and Patrick with his teary eyes, says: wait

watch that scene :

now we have come to an end of the episode, Case is solved CBI was able to catch the criminal.  now the criminal revealed that she overdosed her victim with belladonna which is a rare drug, and one can consume it with the tea.
yes ..... Patrick is not sipping his regular cup of tea, he is consuming belladonna, even after knowing the fact it can cause hin to death. now his only demand from his life is to talk to his daughter or his wife even if it causes him death. patrick's biggest guilt is that he is the reason behind the murder of his family. he is the one, who went over his overconfidence and taunted Red John ( the serial killer ) on a live TV Show that he is no game. he ( Patrick ) can easily catch him. and in the result of that, same night red john killed his daughter and wife.
